I am a botanical genetic engineer
Every Wednesday morning I do gardening at Nanna’s house. This is my happiest time of the week. We stroll around and I ooooh and aaaah at all of Nanna’s beautiful flowers. Every time I go there is something new flowering and i Always make smart gardenery comments like “This ones coming up well isn’t it?” and “Oh Goodness, that’s gone rampant“. The Hippiastrums are starting to finish up and now a parade of Day Lillies are frolicking across the garden beds and I am in rapture. Everyone should garden. Every soul on this earth should spend time digging and getting dirt under their fingers and pulling up weeds and watching magic happen all around them. Plants are a miracle. Just stop and think about it; how can a tiny little seed turn into such an amazing beautiful plant? It is simply the most goggling and phenomenal thing in this universe!
I am ESPECIALLY excited because today I have been Hybridizing plants! Usually bees swap pollen from plant to plant but i have taken up the roll of busy bee today, I plucked the pollen from Aubrey. THIS gorgeous day lily

and I rubbed it into the female part on these three and more! So when the flower fades and the seed pod blooms out of its center I will have a hybrid of the two flowers!!! This is REALLY exciting for me, even if it isnt for you. think about it, Today i have just created several amazing, one of a kind, perfectly unique, never to be repeated, Day Lillys. And i can REGISTER them. I can name them myself and register them as an official hybrid Day Lillys! so exciting!
Another funny thing that happened today - after gardening i had a drink of lemonade from nanna’s fridge. It tasted a little strange… “nanna, What is this?” I asked. “Its lemonade”. “It tastes a little funny… almost like alcohol” nanna snorts. Possibly a suspicious snort? I begin to get worried that I’ve found nannas secret stash of vodka that she drinks on lonely nights. How awkward! And I won’t be able to drive home now because i am under the influence! She takes a sip and mmm’s in agreement. “Theres something funny about this” i say, peering at the used by date. aha! “This passed its used by date in February 2004…” Thats right, my nanna had kept lemonade for so long that it had started to ferment! If its any consolation she assured me “well, it hasent been in the fridge for that long!” haha, imagine nanna having the same bottle of lemonade in the fridge for over 3 years! oh golly, good times, good times.

And I totally know what you mean with the plants- I have been potting up herbs to put outside our house, and it’s so refreshing ot get your hands all dirty and watch things grow (hopefully!)!
