Imagining Weirdness.
Today I thought, “Isn’t it strange that people only ever fall in love with one other person”. We all pair up and disappear into each other. Why cant three people all fall in love with each other? And start a family together and raise children? Why cant Nativity be in love with Finn, but also be in love with Zac and Milly. And Finn can also be in love with Milly, but he is not in love with Zac, but he is in love with Bouy. And Nativity and Milly are both cool with that, and so is Zac and Bouy, who is in love with Milly.
And why cant 5 people all live together in one house and all be just as in love with each other as one husband and one wife is in love with each other? And they all sleep in one big bed. And they go on trips to parks. And they have a vegitable patch and maybe are nudists and activists? And adopt from Africa and feed the poor every Sunday.
I think this idea is a little bit beautiful. I dont know if I could fall 100% in love with one person. I would like to be in love with two or three different people and for them to all be in love with me and each other. Wouldn’t it get boring just having one partner? This way there is more variety in your life. When I want to talk about certain deep topics I know Madaline will understand, and we can cook cupcakes while we talk. But if I want to swim naked in a fountain then I will go out with Tarus for a night.
Maybe you can be passionately in love with someone without being sexually attracted to them? ok *sigh* I know this would never actually work. And I dont actually want it to work. I just want to muse about it as an interesting idea, and let it remain an idea. Its fun just to think about these things and not care if it is right or wrong or practical, just let it float around your head.
So I took this crazy Idea and I put it in one of my worlds. I have lots of different dimensions in my head. One of my favorites is Tanari. My most serious reality. Its a disk world, which means you can fall off the edge (so be careful!), and there are six disks stacked on top of each other (maybe by a giant central pillar?). In one it is always night time and there are a dozen moons and this is where I have decided most of the population fall in love with multiple partners and live in little family units of 3 - 5 people. They are very peace loving on that disk, they all have white hair.
I have one character who comes from there. She is blind because she is put in a different world which has a sun and it ruins her eyes. Her entire torso is covered in strange markings (so she always behaves suspiciously modest), and later in her life she realises that she is actually a living message, sent from her God to someone. I dont know who the message is for or why but she is such a cool character. I will call her… Bel, or El, or Jill.
My other disks are even cooler. One is filled with super dense Thousand-year-old-forests inhabited by tree tribes of blue skinned four armed warriors. And there are dinosaurs/dragons everywhere. Another is inhabited by winged people who mate for life. Their land is full of cliffs and canyons and monoliths and it is very grasslandy. They are probably the most cyvalised. And there are more. I love inventing their geography and cultures and gener politics and traditions and religions and weapons and education systems and governments. Its like doing an ancient history assignment, except you get to make up all the information.
Try it!

There is something so wrong with the starting thoughts of this post.
When you fall in love with someone, you’re brain stops focusing on what it is that you want, and it focuses on what it is that they want.
So, it doesn’t matter whether you want to swim naked in a fountain or cook cupcakes, it just matters what the other person wants to do, and doing that makes you happy.
Of course, if it’s reciprocal, it’s even better.
There are people like that, in America. They call themselves “poly”, like polygamy, and they’re seriously perverted and messed up. they believe that 12 year olds can have sex with old men if they want because they’re “in love”. GROSS!
