I subscribe

I love to define myself. I love to fit myself into categorys. I love to subscribe to different schools of thought and ideals. I love to be a part of somthing bigger. I love to know where i stand in relation to others. I love to be different. I love to be the same. I love love love to subsribe.

I subscribe to:

The Puer Eternus - I am currently reading Puer Aeternus by Marie-Louise von Franz and I strongly identify with this jungian architype. The Eternal Youth. The peter pan figure. Some quotes I have highlighted: “a certian kind of spirituality which comes from a relitivly close contact with the collective uncionsious” - “he dose not want to adapt socially, or take on some regular job and work, yet he must get money somehow” - “the childhood life is the fantasy life, the artists life. He belives that his childhoos life is the true life” - “The only refreshing source he finds is in certain memories of his childhood… his soul nowadays is completely dried up and he is dying of thirst”.

Quirkyalone - The Romantic who is happy being single. The Website quotes: “We are the puzzle pieces who seldom fit with other puzzle pieces. Romantics, idealists, eccentrics, we inhabit singledom as our natural resting state. In a world where proms and marriage define the social order, we are, by force of our personalities and inner strength, rebels”. I have never been in love or in a romantic relationship and I dont think about this or wish I had somebody to love. I am seriously considering never falling in love, and i feel a sort of liberation from this possibility.

Christian - I center my life around my relationship with God. I belive Jesus Christ is God in human form and that I have a personal relationship with the creator of the Universe. Matthew 18:3-4 “And he [jesus] said: ‘I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven’”. I am amazed as I learn more and more about what a radical Jesus was, and what a radical life he calls all people to lead.

Romantic - I identify with themental perspective of Romanticism. I havent researched this topic as much as I would like to, but Wikipedia has this to say: “Romanticism elevated the achievements of what it perceived as misunderstood heroic individuals and artists that altered society. It also legitimized the individual imagination as a critical authority which permitted freedom from classical notions of form in art”. knwo i am a Romantic because I tell myself this lie, over and over, in the hope that it will become true: “I am in love with everything all the time, the sky, the chair, everything“. Charles Baudelaire: “Romanticism is precisely situated neither in choice of subject nor exact truth, but in a way of feeling.”

Anarchist - Specifically a Christian Anarchist. Anarchism is defined by The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Politics as “a cluster of doctrines and attitudes centered on the belief that government is both harmful and unnecessary”. I subsribe to this concept in theory, but resigning myself to its impracticality. Its hard to describe and I havent wrapped my head around this myself, but I am 100% sceptical of all forms of Government. The more developed a nation is, with more Government control, the more demonic it seems to be.

Voluntary simplicist - I am totally anti-consumerism. I belive people spend a billion times more money than they need to or ethically should. I do not belive in Television, take-away food, clutter, presents. I think electricity is an abused privledge. I think money is a resource which we have been trusted with, and how can we justify buying a dish washer when people are dieing of malnutrition in the world? I vow to live my life in a radically altered way to that of mainstream socity. “How you spend your money is how you vote on what exists in the world” - Vicki Robin. This is where you find out more.

Writer - This is my practise. My art form. My medium for expression. My voice. My path. I belive writing is a very insense spiritual process. Natalie Goldberg is a Jewish Buddist, and one of my muses. Her Zen master said to her: “Why do you come to sit meditation? Why dont you make writing your practise? If you go deep enough in writing, it will take you everyplace”. I belive this is true. I am only an amature, but I feel that writing is how I get in touch with something deep within me. God, or the subcoinsious, or my inner child. Something.

What do you subsribe to?
Why dont you…

Interesting. In my old age, I’ve been trying very hard to uncategorize myself. I’ve always felt that the boundaries that are set up by categories stifle creativity.
