I have a Left Wing, and it is flapping.
I love Wikipedia. It reminds me that I am not alone in this world. I can read about so many fascinating topics, and wikipedia re-assures me in a calming, static voice “There are people out there that believe these things, support these movements, uphold these ideals, subscribe to these labels. You are not alone”. Sigh. So good.
I am very interested in Christian Anarchism. Christianity in its origin has been anti government, anti mainstream, anti legalism. Quotes I love:
Petr Chelčický - The man who obeys God needs no other authority (over him).
Leo Tolstoy - In all history there is no war which was not hatched by the governments, the governments alone, independent of the interests of the people, to whom war is always pernicious even when successful.
And if there is anything that makes me excited in this life it is Simple Living. An actual alternative to this hamster-in-a-wheel, consumerism mentality that is totally rampant in modern society. I plan on reading Walden, avalable free online here thanks to my friend Wiki. It is one of the main texts in Simple Living.
And yes Justin, I am a Neo-Luddite. I am anti certain (most?) forms of technological advancement. This is absolutly fascinating to read about. I thought I was the only one who saw that television and computers can have a mostly alienating, decaying effect on individuals and society.
I have saved these pages as I want to look into St Augustine, Vincent van Gogh and Dorothy Day.
Looking at this now… I think I might be a left-wing, conservative, grass-roots, hippieish, alternative, free thinking, anarchistic, Jesus Freak. (oh no!).
No-one has handed me these thoughts/concepts/interests. They have all developed organically. I’ve been naturally draw to them because they resonate with me. I’m not sure if I like what I am becoming. But I am cautious not to embrace just anything. I am interested in these ideas, but this doesn’t mean I blindly march under their banners. Instead I cut little bits out of them with safety scissors and paste them together to make my own colourful collage called: Personal Beliefs.

I think that categories can be important sometimes, but we should never be restricted by them in our own thinking and conduct.
Interesting page!, bro
